Hey everybody! I haven't posted in a while, but I just wanted to let everybody know that I will not, in fact, be returning to Disney anytime soon. I was offered, and accepted, a position teaching English to kindergartners in China, so I'll be moving to Daqing (in the northeast part of the country) in late February. My contract is for a year, but I can extend there or even transfer to a different location, so who knows where I'll end up? All I know is, I'm not ready to settle down anywhere yet, so I'm excited to live in different places, learn different languages, and meet lots of awesome people. :) I'll probably be writing a blog about my time in China, though I haven't started it yet. If there's any interest, I'll post a link here when I get it going.
Feel free to send Entertainment/character questions my way through here (though I don't know how quickly I'll answer) or on AIM (my screenname is ImpsyTheAlmighty), but my knowledge is quickly becoming out-of-date so I might not be the best person to ask, heh. I miss Disney a lot and hope to go back eventually. But I hope everyone at Disney has a magical time and good luck to everyone auditioning/applying to the College Program!

Well I called yesterday to schedule my interview, which is Thursday at 2:15 (woo!), and of course I've also been reading the DISBoards and the facebook group discussion board for Spring '10. Apparently someone found out in their interview that all the auditions are going to be around the same time this year. This is sweet, because I had issues last time with them saying they were "holding" spots in Fall Advantage for people who hadn't auditioned yet. Now they can just figure it all out at once! Sweet!
The REALLY cool thing though, is that people wanting to audition for entertainment can reserve a spot in another role so they don't get totally screwed when all the places in the other roles they want are taken. I'm thinking I'm gonna say Character Attendant, I wouldn't mind doing that if I didn't pass the audition (although I would be SUPER sad if I didn't!).
In other news, classes have started and they seem pretty interesting so far! I made like 250 flash cards for Japanese last night, cause it's been a year since I've taken it and I've forgotten a lot. Oh well. Got lots of reading to do already but I'm REALLY excited to graduate in December. I'm gonna start applying for real jobs in September sometime. As much fun as the CP would be, I am really hoping I can get a job at a video game company. Cross your fingers for me! :)
Hopefully the interview will go well, I'll update again after it on Thursday!

Well I applied for the CP for Spring 2010 (hopefully Spring Advantage, but either way) last night! I had to do this huge online interview thing, answering a lot of questions on a form. Things like, strongly agree to strongly disagree with q's like, "Keeping a clean environment is very important to me" or "Negative people at work affect me very strongly." Things like that, I can't remember exactly what they were. But there were a LOT of questions! I even got to fill out my role checklist online, I wound up putting the same stuff as I did last time - Entertainment, Character Attendant, Attractions, and Merchandise, and I put that I had experience with Entertainment since that was my CP before.
I got an email saying I'd completed it, so I guess I passed that section? Or maybe I haven't really found out if I passed yet. I have no idea how this new thing works. I forgot to call today and schedule my interview today but I'll do that Monday. I'll have to go audition again, I REALLY want to do entertainment again, I feel like I could kick some ass at it and it's the best job ever anyway. :) I hope I pass, though it is my backup option to getting a real job. We'll see!

Hi all! Long time no talk, I know. Couple things:
-My account was recently broken into and all my friends were removed. I added everyone back, but all my groups are messed up now. I have no idea who did this or why, I'm really baffled, but if this account made any strange comments or anything in the past few days, that's why.
-School is going well. I'm doing summer school and still planning on graduating in December, yay!
-I'll be applying for real jobs in Septemberish. I'm apping to various video game companies on the west coast, with the goal of hopefully being a writer for video games someday, hopefully for the company Bioware because I am obsessed with them and they're the best. :) I'll also be going to a video game convention, the Penny Arcade Expo, in Seattle in early September.
-I'll also be reapplying for the CP for Spring Adv 2010, just in case I don't get a real job, though not gonna lie, I don't know that I'd go back if I wasn't in Entertainment, because I just loved it so much.
-I miss Disney every day and still bore my friends with my stories of "Daisy did this" and "you should've seen Minnie, she was so precious." They have all heard these stories a million times before and just sigh at me, haha.
If anybody has any entertainment-related questions, or CP, or whatever, feel free to message or comment or whatever. Not sure how much I'll be updating this, since it's my Disney-only journal, but I do check it pretty often. :) Hope everyone is well!

Hey everybody! Just a quick note to let everyone know I'm still alive, I'm back at school and happy to be back with all my friends here, but it seems like every minute I see something that reminds me of Disney and it makes me miss it like crazy. I am having fun being back here, and there are lots of fun new developments going on that I'll have to write about sometime. But for now, just know that updates will be coming soon, including the promised look back at my CP with fond memories, regrets, and advice for anyone who's applying. To all the people who just started following me after seeing me post on disboards, nice to meet you, and feel free to message me with any character or CP questions you might have!
I'll write again as soon as I have a chance. Until then, hope you all have a magical day! :)

Almost everyone coins or uses expressions that make sense to only a few people. What word or phrase do you use most often that you have to explain the meaning of to others?
I definitely say "IRL" and people don't get it. It means "in real life," as opposed to on the intarwebs. I also find myself saying "WTB [x]" which comes from World of Warcraft. The acronym stands for "want to buy," and people say it in trade channels when they're looking for an item, but people also use it and the opposite, WTS (want to sell) sarcastically - if someone talks in a general chat and spells horribly, someone else might snarkily comment "WTS english skill PST [please send tell]". So when I want something, I occasionally say "WTB sleep" or something of that nature.

I'm a horrible person. I STILL have not updated about the end of my CP, or about all the things that happened while I was home. I was super busy, saw lots of friends that I hadn't seen in ages, and had a ton of fun. But now I'm in the Atlanta airport, waiting until 3 (eastern) for my flight to Mexico City, then I have 3 hours in MC (hee, molten core) until my flight to Acapulco, where I'll meet adrian. I'm not sure how much (if any) internet access I"m gonna have down there, but I will have my phone, so that's something. I can get texts (for $.05) and send texts (for $.50) and call people (for $1/minute) so there won't be much contacting people down there. Damn international travel!
Anyway, sorry again for the lack of updates, but I swear I'll talk more about all the stuff that's been going on as soon as I can. Until then, hope everyone's doing great!

I can't believe my seven months in Disney are over, but I'm writing now from my bed at home in Illinois and I'm still just in shock. I'll still be updating this journal with musings on the program and my experiences as a Campus Rep next semester though. :)
I'm exhausted from my day, so I'm afraid I'm gonna have to sleep. I'll do a bigger writeup of the last week of my program and some thoughts tomorrow!

Our holiday gift to you: the question submitted most often to Writer's Block—if you could have a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?
Without a doubt: shapeshifting. I'd turn into animals and run around, and I would fly EVERYWHERE. I would turn into small animals to get through crowds. Man. So many options. It'd be amazing. I wish I could do this so bad.
Disney-related entry tomorrow, too tired to do it tonight. Worked two 11-hour days in a row (Judge's Tent w/ Mickey and Camp w/ Minnie) so I am BEAT. Hope everyone had a great christmas!

Spike and Angel, President Roslin and Gaius Baltar, Harry and Hermione—shippers often find pairings that the original author might have overlooked. What coupling of fictional characters would you most like to see?
A few things about this.
1. The title, "Set Sail," is a reference to "ships," oh so clever.
2. Ship, as defined by Urban Dictionary: "N: Short for romantic relationship, popularized in fanfiction circles; V: To endorse a romantic relationship." Originally comes from X-Files, where people who wanted Mulder and Scully to get together were "relationshippers," shortened to "shippers," which now is used for all fandoms, not just XF.
3. Who ships Roslin and Baltar, seriously wtf.
4. My favoritest ships, most of which are normal pairings:
Pushing Daisies- Ned/Chuck
Office- Jim/Pam and Dwight/Angela
Ugly Betty (seasons 1 and 2)- Betty/Henry
Real, Disney-tastic update later. :)
